Finance & Banks : claim back bank charges

:

Can you claim back your bank charges?

You can claim back your bank charges for up to the last six years if they are deemed not to be proportional to the actual costs incurred by the banks. What does this mean. I will give you an example. If a bank charged you £30 to send an automated letter to a customer for going 1 pence over there agreed over draft is this fair.

Answer I do not think so. The banks would need to justify these charges in court if it came to it.

OK so you want to claim back your bank charges, you will first need your bank statements for the last six years. How many of us keep them for six years. You could start with your online banking if you have it but not sure how many people have been using them for six years.

You can request them from your bank but they are entitled to charge you. The maximum they can charge is £10, so to save time I would send cheque for this amount to speed up process.

You can do it all your self, or use one of the many companies that have sprung up to meet this need. If you choose a company find one that will do it on a no win no fee basis and give you 100% of the compensation. How do they make money I here you ask. They can get the interest that would have been charged on it so they get something to.

What ever method you decide to use, you have nothing to loose and everything to gain.

Get your money back and do not leave it with the banks, they have enough of their own!
